MOS maintains an archive that includes information about all rare birds occurring in the state, plus information about the seasonal distribution of more common species.
The ensure the quality of the database, the Mississippi Bird Records Committee was established to solicit and evaluate information about all rare and out-of-season birds reported in Mississippi. The committee requests that detailed descriptions, field notes, photographs, recordings, or specimens be submitted to verify such reports.
